Linking conversations to CRM records
Add contacts to People from any conversation, link threads to pipelines and opportunities, and turn messages into structured CRM data.
In Dalil, conversations integrate seamlessly with CRM records. When you connect a conversation to a Person and their pipeline records, the message history becomes part of the CRM activity timeline, eliminating the need for manual updates.
Adding a contact to People
Conversations from contacts who aren't yet in your CRM appear in the Synced (Not in People) section. To track one:
- Open the conversation (or hover it in the list)
- Click Add to people
- Dalil creates the Person record from the conversation's details and links the thread
The conversation moves to the Added to People section and everything that follows (messages, replies, engagement) lands on that person's activity timeline.
Linking to an existing person
If the contact already exists in your CRM, link the conversation to them instead of creating a duplicate: choose the link option on the thread and search for the right person in the people picker.
Linking pipelines and opportunities
From an open conversation, click Link a Pipeline / Opportunity to attach the contact to a pipeline record or deal. Once linked, you can update the record's stage directly from the inbox using the stage dropdown, moving a deal forward the moment the conversation justifies it, without opening the CRM view.
Unlinking
- Remove from people: stops tracking the contact; the conversation history stays in your inbox, but new activity no longer attaches to a CRM record
- Pipeline and opportunity links can likewise be removed from the same control if the thread was attached to the wrong record
Benefits of linking
Properly linked conversations enable Dalil to:
- Track relationship history automatically
- Update activity timelines without manual entry
- Trigger workflows based on record changes that follow from conversations
- Ground AI features (scoring, drafting, qualification) in genuine interaction history
Linking converts everyday communication into structured CRM data without manual effort.
