Linking conversations to CRM records

Connect any conversation to a Person, Company, or Opportunity and turn messages into tasks and pipeline updates.

Updated April 25, 20262 min read

In Dalil, conversations integrate seamlessly with CRM records. When you connect a conversation to a Person, Company, or Opportunity, the message history becomes part of the CRM activity timeline, eliminating the need for manual updates.

Creating Records from Conversations

For unlinked conversations, you can generate a new CRM record directly from the thread by selecting Create record. The system automatically identifies potential details like person name and company information, with optional opportunity creation. Once confirmed, the record is created and automatically connected to the conversation.

Linking to Existing Records

To connect a conversation to an already-existing CRM record, use the Link record option and search for the appropriate item. A single conversation can link to a Person, their related Company, and one associated Opportunity. The conversation then displays in that record's Activity timeline.

Unlinking Conversations

Conversations can be unlinked if connected to the wrong record. This action removes the CRM association but keeps the conversation history intact in the inbox, allowing you to relink the thread correctly.

Benefits of Linking

Properly linked conversations enable Dalil to:

  • Track relationship history automatically
  • Update activity timelines without manual entry
  • Trigger workflows based on communication events
  • Develop AI insights from genuine interactions

Linking converts everyday communication into structured CRM data without manual effort.
