Business context and AI Skills

Teach Dalil's AI your product, positioning, and playbooks once: with business context files and reusable AI Skills, and every AI feature gets sharper.

Dalil's AI features (Ask Dalil, AI reply, AI agents in workflows, AI sequence steps) all share one weakness out of the box: they know your CRM data, but not your business. Business context and AI Skills fix that. You describe your product, positioning, tone, and playbooks once, and the AI applies them everywhere.

Business context files

Business context files are documents the AI reads while working: product one-pagers, positioning docs, pricing explanations, objection-handling guides, case studies.

Where they plug in:

  • AI reply in the inbox: the reply popover has a Business context (optional) section; select files and the drafted reply reflects your actual product and terminology instead of generic sales language
  • AI Agent workflow steps: attach files via Add business context so automated classification and drafting follow your definitions (e.g., your real ICP criteria, not the AI's guess)
  • Sequence AI replies: AI Reply Settings include reply agent files, so auto-drafted responses to campaign replies stay on-message

What makes a good context file: short, factual, and specific. "We integrate with X, Y, Z. Pricing starts at $99/month. We never discount before a demo. Our differentiator vs. competitor A is B." The AI quotes and applies what's written: vague marketing copy in, vague drafts out.

AI Skills

AI Skills (in Settings → AI → Skills) are named, reusable instruction sets:

  • Name and description: what the skill is for
  • Instructions: the actual guidance, written in the instructions editor: how to qualify a lead, how to write a follow-up in your voice, how to structure a hand-off summary
  • Activate / Deactivate: control which skills are live without deleting them
  • An API name for programmatic reference

Think of skills as the difference between telling a new hire what to do every single time, and giving them a playbook. Context files are the facts about your business; skills are the procedures for using them.

The AI settings area

Settings → AI is the home for the whole AI layer:

  • Overview: your AI setup at a glance
  • Skills: the instruction sets described above
  • Tools: the capabilities agents can use
  • Models: the AI models powering your workspace
  • Usage: consumption per user and feature, so you can see where credits go
  • Prompts: saved prompts, including your enrichment prompt library

Getting started: a practical setup

  1. Write three short context files: What we sell (product, pricing, integrations), Who we sell to (ICP, personas, disqualifiers), How we sound (tone, phrases to use and avoid)
  2. Attach them to AI reply in the inbox and to any AI Agent workflow steps
  3. Create one skill for your most repeated AI task: e.g., "Qualification summary: given a person and company, produce fit (high/medium/low), reasoning, and recommended next step"
  4. Iterate: when an AI draft misses the mark, the fix is usually one sentence added to a context file or skill: not a longer prompt every time

Key outcome

Business context and skills turn Dalil's AI from a capable generic assistant into one that knows your product, your customers, and your rules. It's the highest-leverage 30 minutes of setup in the AI layer: one investment, and every draft, classification, and answer across the platform improves at once.
