Managing Data

Import Data

Bring your existing contacts into Dalil using spreadsheet files for quick database population and seamless migration from other systems.

How it works

  • File preparation - Format your data as .csv, .xls, or .xlsx with one row per person, including headers like Name, Email, Company, Phone.

  • Upload process - Navigate to People tab, click the three dots menu, select "Import," then drag and drop or browse for your file.

  • Column matching - Dalil automatically attempts to match your columns to existing fields; manually adjust mappings if needed.

  • Field creation - Create new custom fields during import if your data contains attributes not yet in your workspace.

  • Import execution - Review all mappings, click "Import" to start, monitor progress, and check for any errors or duplicates.

  • Post-import - Records appear immediately in People view, enrichment begins automatically, and you can manually move records to pipelines.

  • Error handling - System flags invalid emails, duplicate records, and formatting issues with clear error messages for resolution.

Tips

  • Include email addresses to enable deduplication and automatic enrichment

  • Clean your data in Excel/Sheets before importing to minimize errors

  • Use consistent date and phone number formats throughout your file

  •  Export a backup of existing data before large imports as a safety measure

A: Dalil will flag duplicates and prompt you to merge or skip.

Q: Is there an import limit?

A: Depends on your plan. Check Settings > Billing for limits.
