Data import, explained

What file types can I import?

CSV and Excel. Drag the file in, map your columns to Dalil fields, and create any missing fields on the spot without leaving the import screen.

What happens to duplicates?

Every import runs a duplicate check first. Matching records are merged into the existing contact rather than creating a second one, so history and conversations stay in a single place.

Can I migrate from my current CRM?

Yes. Contacts, companies, deals, notes, tasks and custom fields come across with their relationships preserved, so a person still points at their company and their open deal.

What if some rows are messy?

Validation runs before anything is written. Bad email formats and missing required fields are flagged and can be fixed inline, or you can import the clean rows and return to the rest later.

Can imports run continuously?

Yes. Zapier, n8n, webhooks and the REST API keep records flowing in from forms, event scanners, billing systems or your warehouse, with the same deduplication and validation applied.
